What is Potencial?
'Potencial', is a year long course designed to release and develop the gifts and ministry that many an 'average believer in the pew' needs. This course is being developed by Dennis Bavister and Jakub Limr, pastor from Hradec Kralove, in conjunction with church leaders. We believe it will facilitate the emergence of many future leaders.
Ephesians 4 v 12-13: To prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Potencial is based on Ephesians 4 verse 13 where Paul teaches that everyone of us has a personal gift which we must use for the upbuilding of the whole Church, the body of Christ. We should not be looking at a hierarchy; a group of leaders doing all the teaching and ministry and trying to be experts in every area. Those who are teachers and have much experience will clearly be used accordingly, but everyone should have the right time and place to use their own gifts. This will be a significant way to develop that gift further and also minister to the whole body. Basically, everyone has something to contribute that is unique.
Meetings for leaders, those interested and a few sympathetic friends were held in May and July 2009. The vision was presented and serious planning for the course begun. It is still developing but also confirmed by God's unexpected provision of a gift, of several hundred pounds from an organisation in the Czech Republic that promotes leadership training in the Church.
