What Will be Emphasised in Potencial?
During the year long Potencial course we plan to emphasise and develop each person's potential, individual gifting, ability to work in teams and love and knowledge of the Bible.
Developing Potential: We seriously believe that there is a great deal of potential or indeed spiritual gifts in most of the believers in our churches which needs to be developed if the Church is to fulfil the commission Jesus gave (Matthew 28v19-20). Our desire for our students is the release of the power, confidence and joy that is there in a latent form. We are especially concerned to help each individual develop into the unique pattern that God has created in them.
Individual Gifting: We learn from the Bible that our gifts are special and personal to us all. Moreover, we NEED each other’s ministry. Throughout the course we shall be prayerfully encouraging every member of our community to serve us as a unit in the gift God has entrusted to them.
Team Work: Throughout the course students will be working on a specific project in teams of about five to deepen their experience and skills of team work, so important in church leadership. There will be a group leader who will be preparing with us during the rest of 2009. These teams will stay together throughout the year of our course and work like a church leadership team. There will be practical projects they will work on together and share problems, successes, ministry and prayer.
Love and Knowledge of the Bible: We are very anxious to develop their love for and capability in using the Bible. We want to help them in their personal, daily use of God’s Word. There will be teaching on basic doctrines in a way which we hope will encourage them to dig deeper for themselves and most especially to apply the theory to their daily lives and their relationship with God and his people. There will be opportunities for the development of praise and worship, publically and personally, of mentoring and handling personal issues and looking at some of the many problems that challenge us in everyday church life.
